Dear Calicchio Customers and Dealers, I would like to first say Thank You to all who have purchased and play Calicchio. Your support has been the only reason that I do what I do. It has been a long hard road over the last few years, with many trials and tribulations. When I took over this great company I had hopes and dreams of building a company to keep the dream of Domenick Calicchio alive and well. I hope to that extent we have done so. I have tried my best to build each horn better than the one before and I hope that I have accomplished that goal.

I'm sure many of us are feeling the effects of the worsening economy. We here at Calicchio are not immune and we are not the huge corporation some seem to think we are. As we are a Corporation, we certainly are not a large company and we are feeling the pinch that seems to be world-wide. Although we did have a business model to grow the company and expand into other brass lines, the task has proven more than our little company can handle. We have attempted to bring back the Earl Williams Trombones with little success, due to issues beyond our control. With that said we will no longer be building trombones and will only focus on trumpets and flugels.

I know production at times has been very low especially with the flugels. As most are aware, we have used Bauerfeind valves for our flugel and I have been quite pleased with their quality but for some reason we are having trouble getting them. We have called, emailed and done what we can but to no avail. For those still waiting on flugels we will continue to try and get the valves. In the meantime I am working on building our own valve sections for the flugel so this will eventually help in the production. It will take us some time to accomplish this goal as it involves a little more money than we have on hand at the moment. Please be patient as we try and get these issues resolved.

Due to the melting economy here in the United States it is apparent the we must change or die. I hate to do it but in order to survive this terrible downturn I have had to make the decision to cut the Calicchio staff down to just me and one other employee. It is the toughest decision I have ever had to make. It is with a very sad heart that I must layoff all but one helper as we attempt to struggle through these tough times.

In spite of the USA situation, the export to Europe seems to have grown and European players are falling in love with the Calicchio sound, top session players are looking for that special sound and feel and they find it in a Calicchio. Also the brass community specially in Holland , Germany and Belgium is huge. Many amateur Big bands, brass sections and brass bands of different levels, but all enthusiastic players looking for a special trumpet. Atelier Pfeiffer will be our European main contact for instant service and pro-test center, which means they have a wide range of instruments to choose from. Working together with special dealers like this, will make us stronger in the future too.

I know many have expressed their thankfulness of having someone like Mr. Dave Johnson to talk with about their orders and customizations and having such a good player to converse with, has certainly been a plus for us. I have over time gotten quite used to Dave's playing and his testing of horns has been the only reason the horns are as good as they have been. Dave has been by my side through thick and thin but unfortunately it has gotten too thin and we can no longer expect any employee to work for such little pay. Thank you Mr. Dave! I hope we can get through this time and bring the group back together as the economy improves. I hope we can work something out to keep you testing as you are as important to me as I am to the horns.

To our esteemed dealers, I would like to thank you again for all your help and support and understanding over the years. We will continue, to do our best to keep you with horns as needed and will continue to try and improve our quality.

Now, I must ask with no office staff if you call please leave a message as I will most likely be in the shop and I can not hear the phone with machinery running. I will do my best to return a call by the next day and if email I will check nightly and try to answer any questions.

Thank you, Calicchio Musical Instruments Inc.
