Terry Townson
Terry Townson was born in Battle Creek, MI into a family of musicians. His Mother played and taught the Hammond B3, Father played tenor sax, Grandmother upright bass, Grandfather piano and vibraharp...even his sewing machine was a Singer! He started playing trumpet at age 10 and at the age of eleven he was working weekends with his grandparents doing tent revivals around the State. Attending high school in St. Petersburg Florida, he won the West Coast Jazz Festival's "Soloist of the Year" award. This award granted him a scholarship to Towson State College. Over the years, he's toured the globe with a myriad of acts. You can hear him, as well as his horn arrangements on many records, jingles and TV specials. Terry has just come off the road with Delbert McClinton after ten years, three studio records (one a Grammy winner) and a double live record recorded in Norway. He and his wife Valerie have recently relocated to Vancouver BC where he is busy in the studios in addition to being an active part of the local live scene. Terry is now playing the DT-1sZ/3rM
